Notice of Project Commencement

Today, we announce the commencement of a project to prepare a new plan that will become a big step on the road to sustainable transportation for the Town of Antigonish and Municipality of the County of Antigonish. Jointly, the Town and County have embarked on an Active Transportation (AT) planning study that will be of interest to all residents. This new plan will identify a number of strategic priority areas to improve pedestrian and cycling conditions in the Town and County.

To enable the Town of Antigonish Public Works crews and contractors to remove snow, and salt streets more efficently and safely, residents and other users are reminded that Section 139 of The Motor Vehicle Act for the Province of Nova Scotia prohibits vehicles from obstructing snow removal or other winter maintenance. The Act allows for such vehicles to be removed at the owner's expence. The Winter Parking Regulations are in effect from 12:01 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. on all town streets, parking lots and includes all streets and marked parking lots on St.F.X. University Campus.
